Benefits of Joining BCRTA
As a member of the BCRTA, you have:
input into pension concerns
through a BCRTA representative on the
Teachers’ Pension Plan Advisory Committee;
input into pension
decisions through the Pension Plan Trustees as they deal with the challenges of
maintaining pension indexing and health benefits (one of the ten Pension Plan
trustees is nominated by the BCRTA to represent retired teachers);
an opportunity to
participate in group insurance plans for a variety of coverage
representation, through the
BCRTA, on the executive of the Canadian Association of Retired Teachers;
affiliation with the
Council of Senior Citizens Organization, which represents about 60,000 BC
seniors, advocating on your behalf.
Becoming a member of the BCRTA/PQRTA allows you to
experience an interesting and pro-active “profession-based” activity, in your
post-work years. The BCRTA/PQRTA membership fee membership is $45.00 per annum
(based on 2007 figures) and is deducted from the September pension payment.
